More than seven months after after the story that DMX had three dead dogs buried behind his Arizona house, and 12 more that were malnourished and possibly the victims of animal cruelty, Arizona law enforcement finally arrested the rapper on Friday. This comes on the heels of yet another DMX arrest earlier in the week, for doing 114 mph in a Chevy Nova.

According to the Arizona Republic, he tried to barricade himself in his bedroom while the warrant was being served. Eventually he emerged, was hauled down to the Fourth Avenue Jail, and bond was posted at $7,500. Authorities also picked up more marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and weapons on the raid. DMX's court appearance is scheduled for this Thursday—but, if his Westchester track record is any indication, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he skips town.

True, we've waited a while to cover this, perhaps because we were stunned by the news. Or, y'know, we've been busy. But it doesn't seem so long ago that Carey was married to Tommy Mottola and living the good life in Bedford.

I read the happy couple got tattoos to celebrate their eternal love before they exchanged rings. "Winona forever," anyone?

For her, it might just be true love (ahempublicitystuntcough), but for him it might just a convenient way for his colleagues on "Wild 'N Out" to stop making Christina Milian jokes.

I'm still rooting for them to stick it out, but not exactly holding my breath. In fact, this Suburbarazzo is setting the over/under for separation at one year. Readers, are you taking the over or under?

I realize that an appearance on The Tonight Show—especially an off-camera appearance—doesn't necessarily translate into full-fledged celebrity status, but, well, it's close enough for me to post here. Especially when the person appearing is Journal News colleague Shawn Cohen, and the appearance is in the form of a vacation video of him and some awfully cute iguanas. Cute, that is, until they pull the ol' distract-and-attack number on Shawn.

Here's a link to the video from Leno (skip to "Zoo Tube" on Thursday, May 8, about 22 minutesin). But if you just want the good stuff, below is the original iguana-attack video that was posted to YouTube. Good stuff.

Speaking to a crowd of 14,300, he reminded the 4,600 graduating students that (a) he actually went to Colgate, (b) Syracuse is really much better at lacrosse than Colgate, and© that "In an Instant" is out in paperback.

And, oh yeah, he also delivered one of the most moving, inspiring speeches I've read in a while. (Or since the Barack Obama's race speech, anyway.)

The full text, from Syracuse University's website, is after the break.

UPDATE: OK, just found out that the speech was awfully similar to another one Woodruff gave a couple weeks ago at Michigan's commencent. Ah, who cares? It's still a damn sight better than the snooze-fest I was subjected to when Robert Rubin gave the commencement at my school.

Oprah, look out! You're not the only one opening women's centers and schools anymore. Mary J. Blige is following suit in her old hometown of Yonkers. The singer visited Roosevelt High on Friday to announce the the new outreach facility—The Mary J. Blige Center for Women—which will be run as a partnership between her (and partner Steve Stoute's) Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now and the Westchester Jewish Community Services.

According to The Journal News, Blige and Stoute are planning to raise $500,000 for the Foundation. "Please get your education," she told the students at the press conference.

"Education is key. Education is power. I saw the challenges women go through as a child. If I can rise from a cesspool, these women can, too."

The CBS account of the event also had a few more Blige quotes about the venture:

"It's about women that desire to give themselves a second chance. They have not given up. They don't want to die. Mentally, spiritually, physically, they want to live.

I'm not saying don't be afraid, but know that we're all a little afraid but you're not by yourself, so push thru the fear,"

The Center will initially focus on reaching out to young, single mothers who need help with parenting, education, and vocational training. And, we hope, also discourage the use recreational steroids and hateration.

It's already a well-known fact: George digs Barack. His support for Obama has been widely reported, everywhere from ABC to the Washington Post to TMZ. Even BarackObama.com seems to take pride in Clooney's reference to Obama being "like a rock star."

So why, then, hasn't Clooney campaigned for the Illinois senator? If Oprah and Bruce Springsteen are happy to hit the campaign trail, why not Dr. Doug Ross?

That was one of the topics Clooney addressed Wednesday night in Pelham, during his talk with Peter Travers at the Picture House. In a nutshell, he thinks it helps Obama more by not publically endorsing him, by not making stump speeches. What's more, this isn't he first time Clooney has boycotted a campaign because he felt his image would do more harm than good.

Shockingly, he took the exact same tack with his own father's campaign for Congress back in 2004. Nick Clooney ultimately lost anyway, but George said that public appearances by him would have only made matter worse. Clooney explains the dilemma in his own words—and discusses whether he'd ever run for office himself—after the break.

You may recall, Diddy and Porter split a month ago, after Porter gave birth to the couple's twin girls, D'Lila Star and Jessie James. Including son Christian, that's three kids the couple has.

Could this lunch mean the couple's giving it another go? BlogXilla certainly hopes so. Here, they share "13 reasons to get back with your baby mama."

Thanks to Amy Vernon for the tip!

The only thing harder than pushing a '66 Chevy to 114 mph on a suburban Phoenix freeway? Trying to keep track of how many times rapper/actor DMX has been arrested for pulling such stunts.

His latest run-in with the law took place on Tuesday, when police took him into custody at his north Phoenix home on charges of criminal speeding, public endangerment, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. Apparently the Arizona po-po uses remote cameras to speeders on the Loop 101 freeway in Scottsdale, and the nabbed DMX—also known to the law by his given name, Earl Simmons—driving at 100, 101 and 114 mph. In a Chevy Nova II, no less. Complete with "DMX" decal on the windshield.

Here, shots of the offending incidents, which were actually recorded back on January 21, 2008:

DMX driving 114 mph on January 21, 2008.

DMX going 100 mph on the same day. In a Chevy Nova!

Remember, DMX, who grew up in Yonkers and still owns a house on the Bedford/Mount Kisco border, also has two outstanding bench warrants in Westchester for prior moving violations (which he failed to show up in court for). And last April, police raided his Arizona house, finding abused pit bulls, a weapons cache and cocaine. The rapper hasn't been charged with any crimes there, though.

Did any of you catch Barbara Walters on Oprah yesterday? In an hour-long interview, she discussed all the revelations from her new memoir, Audition—a book that I couldn't have imagined being at all interested in reading a day ago and is now already on my Amazon wish list. I kid you not. It honestly sounds that good.

Who knew Walters had such a fascinating, and at times sordid, personal life? An affair with a married senator—and a black senator at that! A father who attempted suicide! Three failed marriages and a mentally disabled sister! For more on the details of the memoir, check out this USA Today story.

Of course, the first questions on everyone's mind—including Oprah's—revolved around The View. Specifically, the tumultuous two-year period beginning with Irvington resident Meredith Vieira's departure, then the Star Jones saga, and finally Rosie O'Donnell. Walters spent the longest period on Oprah's couch discussing Rosie, and how the South Nyack often seemed to give their relationship a mother-daughter dynamic.

Rosie used her Ask Ro message board to respond to a lot of the questions raised by Babwa. We'll recap the key points, along with Ro's trademark haiku-ish thoughts, after the break.

But, well, I'm figuring George Clooney's visit to Pelham tonight is about as close as we'll get. And thanks to the good folks at the Picture House, who invited me to cover the event, I'll be there to do the honors.

I'm not sure exactly what a blow-by-blow of the Leatherheads screening and subsequent Q&A tonight will look like. But if you're even the slightest bit curious about what Clooney has to say about Obama, the Time 100, Gawker, and the rest of the blogarazzi—a few of the things I'm hoping to ask about—tune in here tonight around 9 p.m.

Judge Judy. Judge Joe Brown. And now, Judge Jeanine Pirro. For TV execs—like overworked magazine editors—the temptation of an alliterative show title is just too good to pass up.

Pirro's new show will begin on September 22, according to Shawn Cohen's story on LoHud today. It'll be an hour-long program on the CW, in which the former Westchester County DA will "mete out justice with her own 'go for the jugular' style."

Note to all prospective litigants: If your case isn't going well, just bring up Hillary Clinton and/or Al Pirro. A surefire way to bring Judge Jeanine to tears and invoke a mistrial.

Yet another of our beloved LoHud celebs is pulling a Rodney Dangerfield. Remember how last summer Sneden's Landing's Bill Murray finally got his degree from Regis University, oh, about 30 years after he dropped out? Well, now Chappaqua's Vanessa Williams has followed suit, returning to Syracuse this weekend nearly 25 years after she left the university to pursue singing, beauty pagenting, and looking dead sexy.

According to the AP story, Williams, who grew up in Millwood, was a musical theater major from 1981 to 1983 at 'Cuse and "earned the remaining credits for her degree through industry experience and her substantial performances on stage and screen." She'll also be delivering the school's convocation speech.

We can only hope that she has as much fashion sense at the graduation ceremony as Murray did.

Sooner or later, I fear, all of our mainstays here at Suburbarazzi will have blogs entirely devoted just to them. As I posted last week, there's already We Heart Hayden, which is a damn sight better at tracking Palisades native Hayden Panettiere that we could ever hope to be. And today, Friend of Suburbarazzi Amy Vernon pointed me to Rosie Chat, a blog about all things O'Donnell.

True to its name, the blog also has a chat feature which, as far as I can tell, has little to do with discussing the South Nyack resident. Instead, it acts more like support group for Rosie groupies. Here, judge for yourself.

[ Copy this | Start New | Full Size ]

The rest of Rosie Chat features more standard O'Donnell gossip, including enough YouTube clips to make you go blind. Not sure if it will ever supplant r blog, Rosie's own blog, in popularity, but it's got at least one thing going for it: full sentences and paragraphs.

So, who'll be the next Suburbarazzi regular to get their own full time blog—DMX? Stephen Baldwin? Fred Norris?

Yeah, that might have a little something to do with the fact that the director is showing up on Wednesday night to do a Q&A with Peter Travers afterwards. Some dude named Clooney.

First Sean Penn and Michael Douglass came to support the little theater that could. Then Tom Cruise. Now this? Travers ain't messing around!

From what I gather from the Picture House's website, the fundraiser screening, taking place this Wednesday, must have sold out in a matter of minutes (as did the Cruise one I went to a few months back). Never mind the $125 ticket price.

I don't know what the chance is of us getting a media pass (first dibs usually go to The Journal News film reporter, Kevin Canfield, who broke the Clooney story). Me, I'm just happy that we finally get to christen our first series of George Clooney posts. And here I thought Gawker was the only celebrity site in the Tri-State region that had the good fortune to stalk—and then get stalked by—King George.

Never mind that, according to Joel Stein's rankings of the Time 100 Most Influential People, Clooney only comes in as the No. 29 (sandwiched between Britney Spears and Muqtada al-Sadr), I still consider him to be at least ahead of Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd (No. 10 on Stein's list). Besides, wasn't it Stein himself who proclaimed Clooney "The Last Movie Star"—and got a courtesy dinner date out of the man? You'd figure that, at the very least, would have given the man a bump in the ratings.

Anyway, back to the Pelham event. Canfield reports that, considering that the film has taken in a less-than-impressive $30 million at the box office, Travers isn't going to lob out softball questions for Clooney. "I would ask him, I think, right away why the public didn't embrace the movie we just watched, what he thinks about it and does he feel defensive about it?" Travers said, adding:

"But the conversation we're having is much more than 'Leatherheads.' It'll be about 'Burn After Reading,' the movie he made with the Coen brothers that will open in September; about his style of directing; and how he feels as a celebrity having political ideas and opinions, how it hurts or it doesn't hurt him.

"The idea is to just talk to filmmakers who have a stake, not just in the particular movie they made but in how movies will get made in the future."

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't mind if, in the future, more movies banked on the $125-a-ticket model. Especially limited-appeal stuff like documentaries about Darfur. Just so long as a I'm guaranteed a Clooney at every screening—or, for $45 less, a Clooney impersonator or Muqtada al-Sadr—I'm happy.
