Archive for the ‘Sean “Diddy” Combs’
Diddy Force One is grounded indefinitely, thanks to gas prices that are putting even the blingiest of celebs on notice.
Sean “Diddy” Combs isn’t feelin’ the quarter-million-dollar round trips he’d been making on his private jet. So he opted instead to be Something Special in the Air, flying American Airlines with the people. Quoth the Diddy:
“Gas prices are too m—–f—-n’ high.”
Looks like the Mount Vernon-raised rapper is keepin’ it real. As long as “it” fits into one carry-on and one stow-away.
This all reminds me of my favorite Weekend Update line from “Saturday Night Live” last year, delivered perfectly by anchor Seth Meyers: “(If) gas gets any more expensive, rappers will start to drink it.”

This begs the question: If the Yonkers-raised, Bedford-dwelling Ruff Ryder and the Central Nyack icon met behind bars, would the encounter more likely spawn a triple-platinum collaboration or rap’s best beef since 50 Cent and Ja Rule? Post your predictions below. Hypothetical (and clean) song titles are also welcome.
And while you’re at it, vote in the new poll in the right margin: Who’s the best rapper with ties to the Lower Hudson Valley? We’re starting you off with Diddy (Mount Vernon), DMX, Heavy D (Mount Vernon), Jadakiss (Yonkers), Jay-Z (Scarsdale), Lucky Me and Styles P (Yonkers). Feel free to add your own suggestions as long as they actually exist and at some point lived in the LoHud (Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties).

OK, I’ll fess up to this: I only saw the last few minutes of last night’s rerun of the premiere of “I Want to Work for Diddy,” the new Vh1 reality show in which contestants compete for the privilege of being Sean “Diddy” Combs’ personal assistant.
But even with eight minutes’ worth of data, I can conclude with some certainty that the former Mount Vernon resident doesn’t appear to be taking this employment opportunity seriously.
For starters, he wasn’t even on the three-person panel who determined last night’s eliminated contestant. I didn’t even recognize anyone on the panel. Heck, I don’t think Diddy recognized anyone on the panel.
Anony-panel was introduced to a contestant by the name of Kim, who lost the first arbitrary challenge — whatever inanity it was. Based on what was said, she not only did everything wrong but showcased an attitude problem to boot. She then picked another contestant, Georgette, to be subjected to elimination because Georgette was complaining about running around in high heels.
So here’s the rough translation of how that Diddy-less elimination process went down:
Panelist 1: Wow, Kim fouled up the challenge, threw everyone else under the bus and has a major attitude problem.
Panelist 2: But Georgette said her feet hurt.
Panelist 3: Later, Dr. Scholl’s.
Watch the final scene here.
As the credits rolled, the teaser for the next episode cited a quote that compared “I Want to Work for Diddy” to a show hosted by Westchester real estate maven Donald Trump: “It’s ‘The Apprentice’ but cooler,” raved somebody. Unless “cooler” means “more desperate” these days, I’m not buyin’ it.
Plus, I’m wary of any game show whose grand prize is labor.
Am I right about Kim or did Georgette deserve the boot? And what’s up with Diddy being too busy to show up for his own show? Even The Donald shows up to mail in that part. Leave your comments below.

At the end of the video and after the break is the answer to this week’s trivia quesiton: Danity Kane is the brainchild of what hip-hop icon with ties to the Lower Hudson Valley?
A. Sean “Diddy” Combs, raised in Mount Vernon
B. DMX, Bedford resident
C. Heavy D, raised in Money Earnin’ Mount Vernon
Former Mount Vernon resident Sean “Diddy” Combs can always land his share of A-listers for his notorious parties, but when it came to this weekend’s shenanigans at MGM Grand at Mohegan Sun, the real story involved the halves of celebrity couples that failed to show.
The Boston Herald reported that singer and part-time stand-up comedian John Mayer (raised in nearby Fairfield County, by the way) arrived without purported gal-pal Jennifer Aniston. Perhaps that’s because they’re keeping things as private as possible, or y’know, she just wanted to do something else.
But the stranger absence that the Herald hawed at involved former Bedford resident Mariah Carey, who was nowhere to be found near recent husband Nick Cannon at Diddy’s party. I suppose there’s an ebb and a flow to all this; keep the wedding silent, make a huge scene about the nuptials to People magazine, then play it low-key.
Unless Oprah Winfrey swoops in first, do you think Mariah’s next public appearance with Cannon will be for the season premiere of “Wild ‘N Out”? Methinks yes.

Suburbarazzi Week in Review on RNN: ‘General Lee’ payday, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mayday and Aidan Quinn’s heyday • 01.23.08
At the end of the video and after the break is the answer to this week’s quiz: Didi Conn, who played Frenchie in the movie version of “Grease,â€? once visited visited Nyack Middle School to see its production of that musical. In that show, the role of Danny Zuko was played by what actor who would go on to star in “Freaks and Geeksâ€??
A. John Francis Daley
B. James Franco
C. Seth Rogen
Mount Vernon-raised Sean “Diddy” Combs can’t stop (won’t stop) making headlines.
Four witnesses have stepped up and bolstered lawsuit claims that Diddy assaulted a man at an Oscar party last year. Or as the Daily News puts it, the four say “Diddy did it.”
In addition, the “Making the Band” boss has another reality TV show in the works to find his next great… personal assistant?! It appears 20 finalists will be selected to compete on Vh1 to land what’s being called the “job of a lifetimeâ€? on RealityWanted.com.
Classic case of life imitating art. Anyone else remember the “Chappelle’s Show” spoof of “Making the Band,” when Dave Chappelle, as Diddy, sends out the hip-hoppers to return with a sugar cookie? The Vh1 show will probably be like that, except unintentionally hilarious.

At the end of the video and after the break is the answer to this week’s quiz: Of the following celebrities who have called Mount Vernon home, who was scheduled to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today?
A. Sean “Diddy” Combs
B. Sidney Poitier
C. Phylicia Rashad
D. Denzel Washington
Unlike members of ‘Making the Band,’ Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to be immortalized on Walk of Fame • 01.07.08
Mount Vernon-raised Sean “Diddy” Combs will be the newest celebrity to be represented on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony scheduled for this Friday.
In a quote posted by Hip Hop Galaxy, Combs was thrilled about the honor during an interview conducted by Jaime Foxx on Foxx’s Sirius satellite radio show:
I’m from Harlem, New York, so to get a star in Hollywood is just mind-blowing. You can get a lot of things but when you see those stars on the ground… that’s something I can’t even say I dreamed of and to be getting recognized for it is definitely something I’m gonna have my whole family out there for.
I’m not taking anything away from Harlem, and he might have mentioned Mount Vernon at another point during the interview, but here’s hoping he shows more love for his Westchester roots.
Arguably, Diddy’s least relevant contribution to pop culture could be his rapping skills. (His most memorable lyrics might be a tie between “Uh” and “Yeah” on Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize.”) But as a music producer, clothing mogul and music icon, it’s hard to argue against his overall success. Even if he’s merely famous for being famous, he’s done it successfully for more than a decade.
A day after a spokeswoman for Sean “Diddy” Combs announced the split of the Mount Vernon-raised hip-hop mogul and his girlfriend, Kim Porter, Hamptons.com is reporting that Diddy hasn’t exactly been sitting around the
house mansion crying about it.
At his annual White Party, Diddy showed up (un)fashionably late — 2:15 a.m. — and left soon thereafter with a few lovely parting gifts, according to Jennifer Tuesday’s gossip sheet:
[Hamptons.com sources] say he stayed just long enough to pick up a check for showing his face, grabbed a couple of hot babes and sped off with his caravan of SUVs.
Mind you, this maneuver is delivered by the man who practically begged “I Need a Girl” on one of his tracks. Talk about a lack of street cred.
First, Mount Vernon-raised Sean “Diddy” Combs had to dismiss rumors that his Bad Boy Records label cut ties to model/singer Cassie. Yesterday, his spokeswoman confirmed a more personal split: Puff and his girlfriend, Kim Porter, have called it quits.
Combs and Porter — seen here with son Christian during an April 1, 2005 trip to Disney World — also have twin daughters, D’Lila Star and Jessie James, who were born Dec. 21, according to the Associated Press.
Perhaps Diddy will rig his iPod to play his own song, “I Need a Girl,” on a loop until he finds a new one. Oh, wait, he’s found another 200. Cancel that playlist.
