Lower Hudson Valley lays claim to at least 3 Emmys; Katherine Heigl’s LoHud membership status under review09.17.07

emmy-award.jpgLate last week, Ted Mann and I made our picks for who, among our Lower Hudson Valley celebrities, would and should win Emmys. Now it’s time for our scorecard, granting a point for correct guesses as well as Lower Hudson Valley victories.

•SERIES (DRAMA): “The Sopranos” (parts filmed in LoHud; starred Sneden’s Landing homeowner Lorraine Bracco, Purchase College grad Edie Falco and Mount Vernon- and Brewster-raised Michael Imperioli.)

Ted and I thought “The Sopranos” would and should win. And with Bracco also sharing in this victory, everyone gets a point. Ted 1, Chris 1, Lower Hudson Valley 1.

•SERIES (COMEDY): “30 Rock”

While both Ted and I wanted “30 Rock” to win, I thought “Ugly Betty” would take the trophy, while Ted picked “The Office” to claim it. Unlike “Entourage,” which stars Mamaroneck native Kevin Dillon and “Ugly Betty,” which stars Chappaqua resident Vanessa Williams, “30 Rock” has no obvious connection to the Lower Hudson Valley, but we’re all winners in another sense because “30 Rock” is a fantastic show. Let’s hope it’s not doomed with the “Arrested Development” Emmy curse. Ted 1, Chris 1, Lower Hudson Valley, 1.

Forget Rosie, Hire Helene!04.26.07

boygeorge.jpgI’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve been checking out Rosie’s video blogs, which she records right before taping The View, and I can’t get enough of her quirky stylist Helene. Ok, so that’s not Helene with Rosie—it’s Boy George—but how could I resist posting a picture like that? You can see Helene here on Rosie’s personal flikr page (she’s the one in the middle) or check out Wednesday’s blog in which Helene, in her aviators and model-esque haircut, chows down on a gigantic drumstick—for breakfast.

If The View were smart they’d snatch this lady up and put her on air. Everyone knows stylists hear the best gossip and according to Ro, Helene’s worked with Edie Falco, Mariah Carey, Susan Sarandon, Liam Neeson, Jamie Lynn Sigler, and the freakin’ Queen of Jordan.

Also: Just becuase you spent the last half hour going through all 388 of Rosie’s personal pictures doesn’t mean you’re sad, weird, or voyeuristic. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

The Sopranos’ local connections03.30.07

I’m sure everyone is excited for the premiere next Sunday of the last nine episodes of The Sopranos’ final season! To get you in the mood, here are a few Lohud links to the show:

Jamie Lynn Sigler has a number of cousins who live in Scarsdale, which means you’re likely to see her around town every few weeks (at least, that’s what the actress told me last year).

Lorraine Bracco lived in Sneden’s Landing with her boyfriend, Harvey Keitel from 1989 up until last year. The two are trying to sell their $3.2 million townhouse, which they bought from Ellen Burstyn.
Edie Falco—honed her acting chops as a student at Purchase College with the likes of Wesley Snipes and Stanley Tucci.
Now you can enjoy the show even more!
