Archive for the ‘Cyndi Lauper’
Couldn’t get enough of Cyndi Lauper and Rosie O’Donnell when they went on tour last summer? Well, they’re baaaack — with reinforcements. The B-52s and Carson Kressley will be joining the dynamic duo as they kick off the True Colors 2008 Tour in Boston on Saturday, and then head to the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater for a concert on Sunday. The full lineup for the latter show includes, the Indigo Girls, The Cliks, Kat Deluna, and Mary McBride.
While normally the prospect of seeing Rosie in concert is about as appealing to me as a rerun of “Exit to Eden,” the mission of the tour is, of course, a worthy cause — raising awareness about discrimination towards gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. Plus, it’s damn cool that they got Regina Spektor to join the tour for the Boston concert.

Bet you didn’t see that one coming. Or maybe you did. After her premature departure from “The View,” South Nyack’s most beloved hothead has said that she’ll be joining Lauper for a series of dates on her new tour, set to being next week.
Don’t know if I should feel stupid for not picking up on this before. After all, Rosie’s “True Colors” video, a retrospective of her time at “The View” published to her blog over the weekend and featuring a song by Lauper, was an obvious plug for Lauper’s new tour: “True Colors 2007.” And here I thought she was actually getting all nostalgic on us.

1. This was the 15th year that Scott and Todd have done the WPLJ fundraiser at Blythedale. Which means that it must be, like, 20 years since Shannon was on Z100. Man, I’m getting old.
2. Who needs John Oates? The new dynamic duo is Hall and Thomas — as in Daryl Hall and Rob Thomas! Though none of the 13-year-olds probably had any idea who they were, I’d like to point out that they’re not total dinosaurs: Heck, the former has songs on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and the latter has become the songwriter behind Taylor Hicks. Hmm, sounds like the perfect credentials for a “San Andreas Soul Patrol City” duet.
2. Speaking of dinosaurs, Cyndi Lauper looks old. Reeeeally old. And for some inexplicable reason, she’s singing Celtic Christmas tunes now. Just be careful and don’t overexert yourself, Cyndi — a girl can only have so much fun, and besides, it’s just a hospital for children.
