Stalking Lower Hudson Valley Celebrities … So You Don\’t Have To

Heavy D releases first album in almost 10 years

September
30

Heavy D’s first album “Living Large” is one of the first cassettes (ewww, remember those?) that I ever bought as a child.tjndc5-5b1vq4tnznpui8i0gqo_original.jpg

Now I can add his new album “Vibes,” his first major studio recording since 1999, to my collection.

Heavy D is no question a hiphop legend and grew up in Mount Vernon. He gives props to the city in his 1987 song “Money earnin’ Mount Vernon.”

On “Vibes,” Heavy has D-viated from his hip hop sound to take up reggae music, which is more true to his family’s Jamaican roots. I gotta say, I really love what I’m hearing.

You can sample a few tracks on his MySpace.
