Stalking Lower Hudson Valley Celebrities … So You Don’t Have To

Empire State Building goes lavender, pink and white in honor of Mariah Carey

mariah.jpgSo if you could select the colors for the Empire State Building’s lights over a weekend, what palate would you pick? I might opt for raw umber, burnt siena and periwinkle, especially if the Crayola company compensated me accordingly.

While it’s unclear from this report if former Bedford resident Mariah Carey selected her palate, the Manhattan landmark was highlighted with lavender, pink and white lights over the weekend in honor of the songstress’ success, according to People magazine. I suppose those are the flood-light equivalents of her movie “Glitter,” except millions more people saw the Empire State Building this weekend.

Carey, who recently appeared as a mentor and performed on “American Idol,” sold 463,000 copies of her new album, “E = MC2,” in its first week, propelling it to No. 1 on the charts. Last month, she became the top-charting solo artist of all time, surpassing Elvis Presley on the Billboard Hot 100 list with 18 No. 1 singles.

This weekend, I wonder if Bally’s will celebrate her success by having all their personal trainers wear high-heels on Stairmasters to pay tribute to her legendary “Cribs” episode.
