Valerie Bertinelli: Dating Paul Shaffer, Steven Spielberg was ‘No biggie’

Valerie Bertinelli’s new book “Losing It” not only references her dalliances with drugs and adultery, but also previous relationships with Steven Spielberg and Bedford resident Paul Shaffer, as the Daily News recently noted.
Quoth the former Ms. Van Halen about the director and CBS Orchestra band leader:
People knew about them, but I guess they’ve forgotten because it’s been 25 or 30 years. But it was all in the papers back then. Yeah, I dated them. No biggie.
I’d argue that dating one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed directors and TV’s current late-night band icon back in the day is a big deal, but by comparison it’s small potatoes compared to the seemingly angelic actress’ admissions of cocaine use and an extramarital affair. So, she might have a point.

There are several contradictions in your book.
First, on page 169, you use the term pro-choice. Don’t ever confuse being pro choice with being pro abortion. Your camp doesn’t get to hijack the word “choice.†I’m pro choice. I LOVE choices. Who doesn’t? But I’m very much against the killing of the unborn.
That aside, here’s the first contradiction. You’re pro “choiceâ€, yet you condemn your father’s choice of supporting Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld and W. Huh? What happened to your pro “choice†stand? Oh, I see, you’re not really pro CHOICE, you’re pro abortion. Own it.
Here’s the second contradiction. On page 169, again, you wrote, and I quote, “…I was against violence, intimidation…†regarding the bombings on abortion clinics. Oh, really? Against violence? Do you know how VIOLENT it is to destroy and remove a gestating life from a mother’s womb? Apparently you’re not as against violence as you originally thought.
Thirdly, you wrote that Ed had displayed a double standard during your therapy together when he wouldn’t let your infidelity go, yet brushed off his own multiple affairs. Yet, later you defended Ed as being a “weak man†and wrote that you were more angry at the WOMAN Ed had been unfaithful with because SHE was “wired differently†and “should have known better.†HUH???? Talk about YOUR DOUBLE STANDARDS!!! Men can cheat but woman can’t? Give me a break!

Valerie Bertinelli..Larry King Show.
I’m sorry to say I’m not impressed with Ms. Bertinelli’s appearance on The Larry King show. I thought I was going to see a lovely woman, talk about her life as a sweet and caring mother and a come back as a Jenny Craig spokesperson, instead I heard all about her life as a Bi-sexual, drug user and adulteress. Are there no decent people left in Hollywood. I’m surprised at Jenny Craig for using someone like that in there commercials, I won’t be buying her book or joining Jenny Craig.

I can’t comment because it sounds like every other bio to me. maybe she will get a cable show like Kristie. I feel sorry for wolfe and Eddie…
Wow… so we now have to listen to semantics on societally acceptable terms, pro choice vs. pro abortion. I don’t like abortion and I don’t even get as inane as that. Also, Eddie constantly adulterated on Valerie. A friend of mine happen to stay in the same hotel as Van Halen on one of their tours and the entire band was having a nude party in the pool with numerous girls. Every member of the band was having “fun”.
I think the point here is that people make mistakes and they grow from them. She did not live the life of a saint and has the gall to tell people about it and how she’s turned herself around. I fail to see the problem with that.
