Tim Robbins reportedly harassed at Mets game, later called 'Commie' by fan

After reading a Mets fan’s alleged encounter with Pound Ridge resident Tim Robbins, here’s reason No. 385 why I’m happy I’m a Yankee fan.
I’m an avid fan of ESPN columnist Bill Simmons, a.k.a. Sports Guy, which is somewhat surprising because he loves to rag on my favorite teams—particularly the Yankees (he’s a fan of Boston’s pro teams) and Boston College (he’s an alumnus of “rival” Holy Cross). But I can put up with his misguided rooting interests because he’s a talented, honest and hysterically funny writer.
Every now and then, Simmons answers readers’ questions in his regular mailbag column. He traditionally closes each of these with a crazy and/or controversial submission, to which he responds only with “Yup … these are my readers.”
Here’s a letter from “Frank B., New York” that prompted that reaction in Friday’s mailbag. Keep in mind the letter-writer’s brother is referencing Robbins’ role in the baseball movie “Bull Durham”:
I sat four seats over from Tim Robbins at Shea last night. He didn’t even acknowledge my drunk brother calling him ‘Meat’ for three innings straight. Not even a response after (Moises) Alou went deep and he hit him with the obligatory ‘He hit the … bull! He gets a free steak.’ If you see him around tell him to stop spreading his commie propaganda and grow a sense of humor. Thanks SG.
Wow, you mean peppering a guy with drunk versions of quotes from a movie that came out 19 years ago isn’t the best way to solicit a positive response? This “fan” should just be happy that Robbins didn’t go Nuke LaLoosh and bury a fastball in his brother’s temple.
Go Yanks.
