What a fascinating case. It’s particular interesting to me since I went to grade school and high school with Wandschneider. This was in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Quite honestly, in those days I didn’t see him as a guy who I thought would land a $6 Million job.

Wow Ted, thanks for the update. I’ve been waiting for this nut to be sentenced all year. She’s evil, and I only wish the rest of the disgusting scams she’s pulled were punishable by law. Anyway, it’s been impossible to get any info on what’s happened with her case up until now. Thanks!

Jeff, the judge who was hearing the case, Colleen McMahon, left the White Plains court (for another court in NYC, I think). Anyway, that left the case in the docket of Judge Kenneth M. Karas, who pushed it off until the fall. Then, according to a court document dated August 27, the new judge adjourned the sentencing of Ms. Wolcott to November 15, 2007 at 10:00 AM. So, I guess that’s when the judgment will finally come.

Random fun fact: According to another recent court doucment, the “comprehensive psychiatric assessment” of Wolcott by Stuart B. Kleinman, M.D.—the initial rationale for her sentencing adjournment—was paid for entirely by the court.

Disgusting and offensive—agreed. But still, I can’t help but be fascinated by the long, drawn-out scams that this girl was pulling. She may be unsavory, but she was a the first bonafide grifter I’ve ever covered.

And, well, seeing as how the first interview I did with Wolcott’s ex-husband generated more traffic on this blog than anything else we’ve written, I’ll admit that’s part of the reason I’ve continued covering it.

That said, I am hoping it all draws to a close soon. We’ve devoted enough posts to Wolcott (and Rosie and Trump) to last us until at least 2008.
