Paul Newman takes a “terrific tour” of Indian Point

Who would have imagined that organic foodie and environmentally friendly Paul Newman, of all people, would endorse a nuclear power plant. But that’s just what happened this last Monday, when the Westport, CT, resident toured Buchanan’s Indian Point. Forget Cool Hand Luke; as the AP story so aptly put it, call him Cool Hand Nuke.
Newman issued a statement saying that he was impressed with the plant’s safety measures, and Entergy characterized Newman’s visit as a “a terrific tour.” By which I can only conclude that Newman’s Thousand Island will henceforth be known simply as Three Mile Island Dressing. Ba dum bum.

FYI: If you would like a profile of what Mr. Newman saw (and didn’t see), try my thriller novel “Rad Decision”, which is available online at no cost to readers at http://RadDecision.blogspot.com. I’ve worked in the US nuclear industry over twenty years, and my book provides an entertaining description of atomic power for the lay person amidst an exciting story. Both the good and bad of nuclear are covered. Reader reviews are at the homepage comments.
Whoops. Bad link above. http://RadDecision.blogspot.com
At least Newman understands that without more nuclear power, carbon emissions are out of control. If environmentalists had not blocked nuclear plants for the past 25 years, we’d be in good shape right now. Now we’re errecting useless windmills that produce small amounts of unreliable, uncontrollable, expensive subsidized garbage
power that has no ability whatsoever to help meet peak demand. One good nuclear plant can produce more power than all of our 7500 ($2.5 million apiece)windmills put together. At less than 1/3rd the cost. Maybe the irrational left is finally understanding the realities of global
warming.

This from the same serial commenter who was referring to windmills as poetry on some one else’s blog.
