I am what you might call an oxymoron in that I am African American and a conservative. Now, before you shut down and refuse to hear me because of my use of the word conservative, let me tell you, I was also active during the civil right struggles of the late 60’s and early 70’s, so I have a right to choose my political leanings with freedom and pride.

For all you wannabe historians and politicians, let me set you straight on a few things: Liberalism in this country is equal to communism in Eastern Europe, except it is more dangerous. Liberals want to cede the sovereign rights of the U.S. to the United Nations, a body that has been unable to defend any nation it has overseen since it’s inception. If you don’t believe that, then study the history of Crete, a nation to this day that is under UN control and is still at war; Do you remember, Bosnia? A nation that was on the verge of self-destruction while the UN bickered and debated it’s endless resolutions while the US sent in troops to separate the factions. Remember, we still have troops in that country; Somalia was also under UN rule when the Pakistani soldiers were kidnapped and the almighty UN was unable to secure their release. If I’m not mistaken, it was due to the US that they were set free. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but even Iraq was under no less than 17 UN resolutions for it’s failure to account for the very WMD that you people are pretending no longer exists. Funny how it existed in 1991, and it existed in 1998. Do you remember the American and Swedish UN observers that were kicked out of Iraq in 1999 and 2000 because they demanded an account for these elusive weapons? Do you remember Scott Ritter? The former American Marine who was selected by the UN who initially discovered the missing quantities of Anthrax and other chemical weapons that were tagged by the UN during the 1991 war? That’s right, these weapons were identified, tagged, logged and sealed during the 1991 war. These weapons then mysteriously disappeared. So do you think it’s beyond reason that every country in the western hemisphere, including Russia, believed these weapons were still there?

Here is the $64,000 question….since the weapons are not there now, WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM? And please don’t insult anyone’s intelligence by assuming they never existed. Even Saddam admitted that the weapons existed. If you were like me, during the runup to the war in March of 2003, Saddam first threatened the coalition by stating that he had modified his stockpile of SCUD missiles to have a longer range. HE threatened to use “whatever means were at my disposal to defend Iraq. This includes using chemical weapons if necessary.” Here’s what we all seem to forget, this was being covered starting in November of 2002, not by Fox news, but by that bastion of liberal media, CNN. In fact, if you check out this website, you will see the list of WMD that had been discovered in Iraq prior to 2003 – http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2003/iraq/forces/weapons/index.html. Ah, how convenient it is to have selective memory.

Now, back to my point about liberalism. Remember, it was a liberal president, Jimmy Carter who armed and funded Iraq in it’s war against Iran, AFTER he failed to rescue the american hostages in Tehran. Remember, it was a liberal president, Jimmy Carter, who armed the Taliban when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. Yes, this includes Osama Bin Laden. It was a liberal president who created the modern welfare system, which was designed initially to help impoverished whites in America during the depression, but ended up being a tool to control impoverished blacks and keep them subservient to the Democratic party. THEN, it was a liberal president, Bill Clinton, that attempted to abolish the very tool his party has used for years to gain the support of those very people.

The Civil Rights movement was in response to the war on blacks fought by the liberal government in the south that believed that we were non-humans. Remember, George Wallace, the governer of Alabama that tried to block James Meredith from gaining admissions to the University of Alabama, was a democrat. Remember, Bull Conner, the democratic chief of police of Birmingham that used fire hoses and police dogs against children. Remember, it was in Selma that the attack by Alabama State police was waged on the Edmund Pettus bridge (look it up).

Just so you don’t think I’m picking on Alabama, it was in Mississippi where the White Citizens Council was birthed, a democratic organization designed to keep blacks segregated and from being able to vote. It was in Atlanta where some of the most difficult conflicts of the civil rights movement took place. Now for my norther brothers and sisters, does the name Mayor Richard Daley ring a bell? Wasn’t he the democratic mayor to found a way to allow dead people to vote? Wasn’t he the one that turned the Chicago police into storm troopers during the 1968 democratic convention, killing several protestors to the Vietnam War? Ah yes, the Vietnam war. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but wasn’t it a democratic president (Lyndon Johnson) who threw us full tilt into the Vietnam war, immediately after his democratic predecessor was assassinated for trying to get us out of Vietnam (John Kennedy)?

And finally, was it not Slick Willy Clinton who was manning the ship when the first World Trade Center bombing took place (1993)? Wasn’t it Slick Willy who was president when the Embassy bombings in Africa occurred (1998) and nothing was done. Wasn’t that same Slick Willy the prez when the USS Cole was attacked (October 2000, remember, Election Day wasn’t until November so you certainly can’t blame this one on Georgie Bush). Wasn’t it Slick Willy who was prez when we cut and ran from Somalia after putting our boys in harm’s way only to then turn his back on them when the first shots were fired? And lastly, if memory fails me, it was the Democratic Supreme Court who tried to userp Florida State Law that governs elections in the state so that you people could get your boy Al Gore elected, (remember, he invented the Internet), thus causing the Supreme Court of the US to step in. And if you read their decisions, even the liberals on the US Court, while they weren’t in complete agreement, ALL agreed that the Florida Court was out of order.

So, let’s see who’s willing to retort history and spin it to your liberal ideology.

If you must know the truth, I pray for the families of folks serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, who don’t agree with these wars but who know that their military members “serve”, which is why they enlisted. No one in their right mind (like Rosie) would call people “serving” terrorists. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are the “terrorists”, no different from Bin Laden.

Of course, the exception is someone like DN, who’s frothing at the mouth to kill some “Eye-Rackee’s”, or maybe stick a plunger up someone’s ass. Luckily, there’s very few bad apples like DN serving over there, IMO.

I would like to jump in on this one. I am an American who has family in Canada and so I can see both sides of the coin.

You are implying that the US doesn’t have health care for children and elderly but it does. I am a nurse and I can assure that it does exist. I don’t know what you are basing your insinuation on but like most Canadians on here you have an abysmal ignorance of all things American. Your news source, is it the CBC, is doing y’all a disfavor.

Here in Georgia for one example we have Peach Care for children which is wonderful and does not cost 16 cents on every dollar plus taxes “up the ying yang” and it insures a private room and not a ward. A ward? how antiquated.

You actually do have deadly hurricanes in Nova Scotia. In fact you just had one with Juan a few years ago, a category three and the EMT who died was the friend of one my friends. Small world.

We all know that blizzards are hurricanes with snow and not just a yummy drink at the DQ and you have way too many of those. There is some hope a tornado won’t hit you. There is no hope in a blizzard.

My only experience with a tornado was in Hamilton Ontario in 1971 and I live in Georgia.

Actually the whole world does not love you nor does it hate us. There are countries which receive more than 30 billion a year in foreign aid who are grateful to the Americans as are those whom the US helps in times of disaster.

No one comes to our assistance when we have one. You guys sent us one of your two frigates after Katrina. It was filled with diapers and French speaking people, God knows why. Does your government think people in New Orleans speak French? You really don’t know that much about the US do you?

Anyway it arrived weeks after everyone had left and I gather from my family that the venture cost y’all 10 million buckaroos and 2 million of that somehow was airfares to send home the French civilians. They must have traveled first class around the world first. However, we did help y’all with Juan. We helped NS but the rest of Canada did not. That was very sad. No help from Quebec or Ontario.

Do you even like each other? Tell me true, do you even know the words of your national anthem? I don’t know one Canadian who does.

I must say you are not really for each other at all and you only agree on your anti-Americanism. The French want to leave and Ontario is a big US wanna be while denying it at the same time. The prairies are out of touch with the rest of the country and the Maritimes are always made fun of by the rest of the country. Who knows anything about BC?

As for Afghanistan, it regressed because y’all were buddy buddies with the Taliban who are thanking you now with bombs. I think y’all went into this war thinking it was going to be a fast meal but it is not. No war is. Our troops are still in Germany and Japan and Korea.

Anyway, Canada is not all that great and I think you are really a teensy bit jealous of the US. You need to stop that now and be sweetness and sugar to each other.

this gets me months of waiting to see doctor and then more to see specialist and then more waiting to have MRI (there are less than 10 such machines in all maritimes)

Okay now I am in the hospital finally…had to come via ER but had three day wait in waiting room….oh yes, 3 days!!

Now I have a room…..but it’s not a room….it’s a bed in a ward…....all that tax money and I get a bed in a ward.

How do I get a private room….oh, health insurance….just like the Americans have to have….only they get instant care! I know that too….instant!

I had a friend in NS who waited four weeks for an angiogram after chest pains….friend in US, had angiogram two hours after onset of chest pains. Guess which friend is still alive?

So what is free about this health care again. Americans come to Canada for cheaper pills…..Canadians go to India for God’s sake to get hip and knee surgery because they can’t wait any more years for it than they already have.

wE DON’T get what WE pay for… WE are paying and paying and paying for this medical care and WE are getting nuttin honey! Don’t bullshit AMericans on here with that free medical care talk.

I have met camels over here in Iraq who are brighter than the whole lot of you. Disgusted Canadian 1 or 11 or whoever you are, I invite you do to come over here and say what you are saying. I invite you to sit with my men, and go out with them on patrol everyday not knowing if the next mile is their last mile…..and how awful to know that we are being blown up all this time by ourselves, when we thought it was the insurgents who were doing that.

I would like you to meet with the Iraqis who greet us on the streets, the ones who appreciate us being here, the ones whose daughters and children had no schooling until now, the ones who now have a hospital because we made one and filled with modern equipment, the Iraqis who now have water and the farmers who now have irrigation. I’d like you to meet the people who speak of the horrific life they had under Saddam where people lived in fear and there was no hope. They live in fear now too but that is a problem we are going to take care and God willing we will be able to stay here until the job is done. I would like you to meet with the people whose families have been tortured and killed by Saddam, I would like you to see the mass graves we have found with hundreds of thousands of bodies, people who apparently died at the same time from some cause. I would like you to see for yourself what it is that you obviously know nothing about as you sit on your haunches up there in Canada and complain about the AMericans on Iraq.

Three of four people on this blog have already tried to get it across to you why we ware here and you don’t seem interested. Well, put your backpack on with its Canadian flag and come over here and do your talking. I am sure the insurgents won’t target you as long as you have that flag on. Stand there with your little maple leaf on your back and shout the stream of nonsense to the insurgents and see how long you live. You seem to think they hate only Americans….think again.

But come over here anyway and meet the guys you are calling fucking AMericans. Meet the people you think are here doing no good but killing innocent citizens. We came to liberate the Iraqi people, a goal which your country did not think was right and so be it. We appreciate your help in Afghanistan. However, this was our goal here…not to get oil because if that was the goal then our folks at home would not be paying $3 a gallon right now…it would be 75 cents a gallon. Be that as it may, the goal was to get rid of Saddam and the threat that he would sanction and hide terrorists and give them another platform to launch attacks against the US and you too. They had been driven out of Afghanistan and had no where to go and a corrupt regime like Saddam’s would be the perfect place for them. They are here now aren’t they? So why not before….only we are keeping them busy here now…..not on the streets in the US or Canada.

Saddam had used WMD before, hellfire we are the people who sold him the stuff. We know he had them, your country said he had them, he used them on the Kurds….and those people in the mass graves did not all die at once from a heart attack. He had already attacked his neighbors in Kuwait so what was the reasoning in waiting around for his next move and to have Iraq another place for them to plan another 9/11. You don’t know what 9/11 was like buddy….I do…I lost two brothers who were fire fighters. I am the last son….but my parents know this is the right thing for me to be doing and the right place to be.

Someone on here made some comment about the PM in Canada going to all the funerals and how Bush doesn’t do that. Darlin….we have lost thousands…the man would have to be at funerals all day long every day of the year….c’mon now. You know that. But he comes over here to see us…and we appreciate that and we appreciate him.

We wouldn’t have had the mess in NY had we a president who put us to work after the first terrorist attack…or the second or the third or the fourth or the fifth. When we started dealing with terrorists we were already years behind and just had not been put to good use. This guy Bush is not only protecting us but you guys as well.
