Zac Efron is maybe not the nicest person in the world

Journalists tend to be pretty deferential to celebrities, especially when they’re granted exclusive carte blanche access to their big, talked about movie extravaganzas still being filmed. So, if you read this weekend’s 2,500 word story in The New York Times byâ€â€of courseâ€â€Jacques Steinberg (the king of TV reportage) about the making of High School Musical 2, and came away thinking that Zac Efron, the film’s star, sounded like kind of a tool, well, there’s probably a reason to that.
Maybe Zac’s former TV big brother (and one-time Ardsley resident), Jesse McCartney, whom my colleague Jenny Higgons interviewed for InTown Magazine last month and said was gracious and warm, should talk to him about putting on the charm offensive a bit.
Because saying the following about your cast mates, isn’t really the wisest p.r. move:
Personally, I feel no competition with the cast because I’m not going for the same things they are…a lot of them are doing teen music things, and tours, various TV deals and other Disney TV movies and Disney albums. That’s the last thing I want to be doing at the moment…I’m setting my sights a little bit higher.
Efron, who’s singing in the original film was dubbed by another actor becauseâ€â€according to Efronâ€â€his voice was too baritone to fit with the rest of the cast (sure), said he’d be singing all his own songs this time around for the sequel. Even so, Efron had this to say about his cast mates’ singing for the first film:
Once it’s edited, the people in this cast sound like Mariah Carey. There’s skill involved [though] with computers these days, you never know what you’re hearing.
And they say there’s no more class in Hollywood!

I was going to excuse these quotes for a minute, then I realized that this man is 19 years old. Oof.

i am so sick and tired of this. Seriouly, this is getting out of hand and getting blown out of place. Zac is a nice guy. I think that it just came out wrong. That does happen in interviews you know. God, no i hate the media. all they do is spread false crap like this saying Zac isnt nice. The first qouted part, he means that he isnt on the same path as they are, i got that right away, but some people dont get it. Lucas said about Drew while on tour of HSM “He’s probably the most talented person on stage, especially vocally.” You want to tell me that he is too dissing the cast and saying that he isnt the nicest person in the world. please people, what Zac said just came out wrong, and that is it.
I’m pretty sure Zac meant nothing by it. Sure, he’s into more hollywood stuff, then disney stuff, but i guess that’s all he meant. :} Zac’s still cool, although he should have explained himself more because we’re all looking at this two different way.
This is what happens when a little fame comes your way and you lack the maturity and gratitude for those who helped you along. It seems Mr. Efron is suffering from a severe case of “swelled head” and “advanced egomania”. Let us not forget another staement made byMr Efron “before HSM, I was like a thousand other kids in Hollywood trying to get a big break.
Another fact that some have overlooked is that the agent that Mr. Efron depended upon and who worked tireless to help him in the early years (she would drive up to Arroyo Grande from Hollywood to drive Zac to auditions and to help him get his “foot in the door” was unceremoneously dumped by Mr. Efron when the bigshots at CAA lured him into signing with them.
I don’t think he meant anything by it he should of just reused his words. But don’t you think maybe the fame is getting to him.

Jeremy – that ‘chauffer’ was his mother, who could not handle the many demands being placed on Mr. Efron and who suggested that a professional manager might be better suited.
I was thinking abouat that quote, and I THINK he may have been referring to the public, who can be made to sound great with proper computer technique. (At least I think so…)
That was very rude!!!! Zac Efron might not mean it in that way If you had eyes you would have seen that he said there are ‘obviously some skills involved’!!! Maybe you stupid reporters should read through what you said before you go making silly assumptions like you usually do. Now im being bias to reporters, Damn. Those are is “best friends”, i dont think he would diss his “best friends”. he is not saying there are better singers than the others, he means the “entire cast” which includes him but that doesnt mean that the cast are bad singers, i hope you get what i mean. i hope Zac is aware of this so he can clear things up and shut this reporter up for making this article and those who think he was rude which i think he wasnt rude at all in the interview.

I have been a big fan of Zac since he was in Summerland, and although I was a little surprised at what he said, I know he’s a nice guy because I’ve met him before. I’m sure he said other stuff too, its just that media cuts out all the good stuff so that people think Zac’s mean.. and hes not… so get over yourselves.
Zac is a regular person who has opinions just like the rest of us and like others have said, those quotes are only a little section of the interview and we dont know what else could have been said. They aren’t even mean quotes, we don’t even know what kind of questions were asked. And how does this quote show that Zac has a big ego?...“Before HSM, I was like a thousand other kids in Hollywood trying to get a big break.” I have heard him say that in many interviews, he is just saying how lucky he was that HSM was a big hit.

Reporters do exagerate a lot (not all, though) and they need to completely read and carefully read things about others before dissing them. The quotes said about Zac, I think, have been misunderstood. I don’t know a lot about him, but from what I do know, he seems like a pretty nice guy and people shouldn’t diss others without knowing ALL the fax.

this article sounds kindof convincing but on all his interviews and shows and performences he sounds like a really nice caring person. although in my opinion, hes getting too overwhelmed with his acting career. i mean, i didnt even know zac efron before the huge hit of HSM. ive never met him but i know people who have, some that say he was extremely rude like he would ignore them and just like sign a paper or yell at them for hovering over him. anyways zac efron could have two differnt personalities, like all his movies and interviews are just an act, or hes just pretending to be nice.

Honestly, i don’t even believe interviews and stuff, because the editors, always cut parts of the interview, and the parts that they decide to leave, usually don’t make sense, and people get the wrong idea from them. Zac looks like a really nice guy, and in my opinion that doesn’t mean he is dissing the cast.

Hey i just want to say the media are full of s***! They like to tell stories about innocent celebrities. I think somehow they get jealous because some celebs are so talented and successful that the media dont want to keep recieving all this positive feedback about the celebs. Instead, they want to twist the truth and make up a white lie just to grab the attention of the public eye. I mean, who would have thought that someone like Zac Efron would say something like that about the other cast members. That’s why it becomes so obvious that the media are jealous because they take innocents, like Zac, and try to turn others against them! Some people have higher expectations in life, sometimes because of the influences of the people around them and what they were taught as they were growing up. Obviously, Zac’s older family members/friends saw things this way as children and they wanted zac to be taught the same way. Another point suggesting the reasons for his comments is that some people are born to walk in the light and i guess zac is one of them people. I think he has just been simply misinterpreted. He could of said it with different meaning when you actually hear the expression in his voice, but it has been made public by an article on the net. Just remember voice can express a lot more than what words can! Zac Efron is gorgeous, not just by his looks but by the person he is and how he expresses himself from the inside to the out.
