Keith Olbermann outlasts his toughest critic

No, Bill O’Reilly is still on the air, but Olbermann Watch, the weblog set up by New Rochelle’s Robert Cox, has called it quits after the MSNBC anchor (and former Hastings resident) signed a new multi-million dollar, 4-year contract. In a goodbye note to the site’s fansâ€â€or rather the show’s non-fansâ€â€Cox said:
There is no disguising the fact that we have been extremely unhappy with the recent decision of NBC Universal to not only retain Keith Olbermann for four more years but to elevate him in an unprecedented fashion…After careful consideration and consultation with the entire staff, we have decided the time has come to retire OlbermannWatch.com.
The site was far from just a fringe celebrity hate-fest. Cox became the defacto Olbermann critic and often found himself quoted in the pages of mainstream media outlets, such as in Rolling Stone’s lengthy profile of Olbermann last month.
