No Ang Lee on Hulk 2 make blogger very aaaangry

tjndc5-5baqxskpxpca73wq6bw_layout.jpgI still say that Ang Lee’s “Hulk” was one of the most underrated superhero movies of all time. With the multi-pane comic book look and special effects, it was far more ambitious than your typical “Spiderman” or “Ghost Rider” adaptation. Eric Bana was perfectly cast as the Hulk, and Jennifer Connelly was wonderful. And I thought recasting the whole Bruce Banner backstory as genetic engineering gone awry really worked—and was also a cool, odd tribute to Lee’s wife, Jane Lin, who is a microbiologist at Westchester Medical College.

That’s why it’s astounding to me that Lee, Bana, and Connelly all aren’t doing the movie’s sequel, “The Incredible Hulk.” Set to begin filming this summer in Toronto, it’s going to be directed by Louis Leterrier (of “The Transporter,” “Uleashed,” and “Transporter 2”) and may star Adrien Brody as a new Bruce Banner. Ugh. This is all sounding like a terrible flashback to the Joel Schumacher “Batman” years. Is it too late to start a petition to get Larchmont’s own Lee back on the project?

You’re crazy. That movie sucked. It looked good, but there was no plot.

Maybe I am. I liked that girl who sang the Dixie Chicks song and got kicked off American Idol the other night, too.

But I do have this to add: Seeing Nick Nolte in balls-out mug-shot mode for 2 hours was totally worth the price of admission.

The first Hulk was an awesome film with a crappy subplot regarding Nick Nolte that could be edited out and make the film even better. However the studio is in the business to please the masses and make money…not just to make a handful of fanboys happy and barely break even. LOL Leterrier is going to do an awesome job. Just watch Unleashed to see his styel.
