Stalking Lower Hudson Valley Celebrities … So You Don\’t Have To

Rosie baits Oprah the old fashioned way: nasty blog haikus

January

rosie-oprah.jpg
It’s been, what, a whole week since Rosie O started another celebrity feud? Now she’s ratcheting up the stakes, taking on the one person you don’t want to pick a fight with: Oprah. (Trust me, just ask Dave Letterman.)

On her r blog, Rosie lashed out at Oprah for her interview last week with kidnap victim Shawn Hornbeck and his family. As with many of her previous spats, she phrased her criticism in the form of a nonsensical, stream-of-consciousness semi-haikus (it doesn’t all follow the 5-7-5 format, but sort of aspires to). Here’s one snippet:

after 4 years captive
a new haircut couldn’t hide
his tormented eyes

She concludes by saying that at least the other kidnapped boy, Ben Ownby, did not appear on the Oprah show and thus was not exploited by the Harpo machine: “a moment of sanity.”

Could this set up an eventual James Frey-ish smackdown for the portly Lower Nyack resident? Will this be the final straw for Barbara Walters, sick of O’Donnell’s nonstop stream of celebrity feuds? Or will it be Rosie’s insolence on The View, openly defying Mama Walters on the show and suggesting that Bush should be impeached, and then opening up the whole Clinton impeachment can of worms? All I know for sure is that if she’s this controversial on daytime TV, her “Nip/Tuck” spinoff show is sure to be off the hook.

Rosie taking on Oprah?!! That’s like the aroma of garbage trying to become the next fabulous scent. That’s like a mangy mutt trying to beat a Westminster Best of Breed, make that Best of Show. Oprah has way too much class to be sucked into a Rosie ratings-searching rant. I always thought Barbara Walters had class. The longer she puts up with that low-class, trash-talker, the less is my opinion of her. How much longer is the public going to find these rants entertaining?

  2. January

I don’t really think Rosie was talking about Oprah personally. Think about it, a kid kidnapped and immediately on a talk show. Do you think they got paid? Were they doing it so we would understand something when they didn’t know anything? I agree, he shouldn’t have been put in that position! And we all still know nothing of what happened. What was the point?

As a healthy, red blooded, heterosexual, American male…

I just can’t relate to any of this.

Oprah obviously wanted the “first” interview with Shawn Hornbeck, but I agree with Rosie (once again) it was way too soon. I think Oprah’s celebrity has given her a clouded vision. She is use to being around celebrites now. Everything is up for grabs for exploitation. Also when Oprah said on one of her shows that she worked for everything and does not feel it had anything to do with luck, she’s wrong. It had to do with affirmative action. The rest of us with advanced degrees (having paid for our education) would love to have the opportunities afforded to her. She uses tragic events in other average people’s lives to gain publicity.

If I were Miss O’Donnell, I would not want the most powerful woman in America (that would be Oprah, not Ms. Clinton) on my bad side. Rosie pushes her “views” way too far over the line. I don’t care who you are, Dem or Republican, that is something this country does NOT need, more derision. We need to unite behind what is most important in this country, and that is our safety, our freedom and we must support our troops, no matter what. They are the only ones who know the truth as they live it. We Americans do not. Anyone outside of that realm only thinks they have a clue. We need to take off our blinders and listen to the troops there on the ground, and not some loud-mouthed, over opinionated talk show host. Oprah has too much class to stoop to Miss O’Donnell’s level. If I, God forbid, or anyone in my family, had undergone childhood sexual abuse, the ONLY person I would trust is someone who has gone through it herself, and that would be Oprah. Oprah has more class in a strand of hair than most other “celebreties”. Who should have gotten that Hornbeck exclusive? Entertainment Tonight, People Magazine, or someone who lived the nightmare that would not pressure the child and his family, and would treat them with the dignity they deserve? Again, that would be Oprah. Someone high on the ladder needs to put Miss O’Donnell in her place, and hopefully, Barbara Walters and ABC exec’s will wake up and smell the coffee.

I was a captive audience watching the “Rosie” show where she attacked Tom Selleck about his role with the NRA because I was in the hospital with limited televsion channel access. Mr. Selleck went on her show to promote a movie, not to be attacked over his right to the Second Amendment. Whatever your views on that right are, a daytime talk show host has no right to attack you for a legal right, especially because it was hypocritical for her to do so, as she sent her son to SCHOOL with an ARMED BODYGUARD. A GUN IN A SCHOOL. That’s right. Check your facts if you don’t believe that! If I want to hear politic views and opinions, I certainly do not need Hollywood to tell me what to think.

I encourage you all to keep an open mind. Thank you.

I totally agree with Rosie on this one. I too was absolutely shocked at Oprah’s unbelievable insensitivity and coldness during this interview. It has changed how I feel about Oprah. I wrote about it on her website, and of course have not received a response. All of this was BEFORE I knew about Rosie’s response.

I am a retired school counselor, and during my career, have interviewd victims, made reports, and testified at trials which resulted in several child abusers being sent to prison. I KNOW that what Oprah asked a terribly fragile and vulnerable victim and parents was damaging and outrageous. She should apologize much more humbly than she ever did with the Frey thing, because this was TOTALLY HER FAULT!!!!

  7. Rosa

The final decision to come on the Oprah show was Shawn’s parents (whether they were paid or not). I love Oprah and maybe it was a mistake to put Shawn on. Again, the decision was Shawn’s parents. Now Rosie has a habit of going a bit overboard with her comments. I thought my boss was overreacting but now I see he is not. She has proven to me that everything he has said is true. Rosie needs to keep her comments to herself and stop being so hostile with everyone. Everyone has a right to their opinion but there are ways to say things without being rude and obnoxious.

    Just my opinion. Thank you!!!

  8. Mike Shoemake

Rosie O…..A butch lesbian with an anger management problem. What else is new?

  9. Sam Sawyer

It’s time Barbara Walters wakes up. We as Americans don’t want to hear our president and people bashed by a foul mouth jerk every day just so she can get some attention. Fire Her..we can’t stand her, please get some respact back to that show and our airways-
    Sam Sawyer

  10. Mary Schneider

Oprah should be ashamed of herself for putting that poor boys family on t.v. We don’t have to know if his parents thought he was molested. Now that kid has to live the rest of his life living with what happend to him and his parents going on Oprah to talk about it. Bringing up what they think might have happend to him, the molestation, severed no purpose. It’s just sheer press shock and sensationalism. His own parents announcing it to Oprah’s audience. It makes me sick, really. If Oprah really cared about missing and exploited children, or children, period, she would be in Washington, not Africa.

  11. Bruce

Rosie needs to stop airing her views as though they are anything but the mariginal, twisted convictions of a troubled mind. Attacking Oprah over a non-existent wrong? When will the madness cease?! Barbara Walters needs to grow a backbone and send Rosie crawling back to the hole from whence she came.

  12. Rolland

Enough or Rosie and Barbra. We will not watch this program until they are gone! I will not purchase anything from the advertisers of this show. They are big mouthed Idiots.

  13. Sam Sawyer

Rosie needs to pack her bags and move to Iran. She will gat along well with thier terrorist leader. I’m sure she’ll be attacking the Jews in a matter of days. The format for her outlandish banter needs to stop. Barbara Walter needs to kick her to the curb to save her own dignity and character.
    Sam Sawyer

  14. Dave

Oprah did not force that boy’s family, to be on her show!
So why should she be ashamed!

  15. marc

I would like to preface my statement by saying that I did not see the opening of Oprah’s show regarding the Shawn Hornbeck case. So, if she made any statements confirming that her organization sought this interview, then I missed it…

My question is: Has anyone considered the possibility that Shawn’s parents contacted Oprah’s show to do an interview with their son instead of the other way around?

No doubt the Hornbecks were deluged with a slew of reporters desperately and repeatedly trying to “get the scoop.” Perhaps asking Oprah to conduct the interview was their attempt at keeping the REAL wolves at bay.

If the Hornbecks are as astute as I think they are, then surely they came to the realization that the media was not going to leave them OR, more importantly, their son alone until answers to OUR (yes, OUR) many questions surrounding Shawn’s kidnapping were answered.

Oprah is known worldwide for her love for children and her unwaivering need to preserve and protect their innocence. While I certainly do not believe that she is above the rest of the human race (no one belongs on a pedastool), she has time and again demonstrated (in full view and decidedly behind the scenes), an unbelievable level of sensitivity and compassion not found in the masses and, I daresay, the media. Perhaps it was these very characteristics that appealed to the Hornbecks who found their backs—especially Shawn’s—pressed up against the wall by the media’s and the public’s insatiable “need to know.”

Sure, Oprah could have refused the Hornbecks, channeling our impending “Monday-morning-quarterbacking” comments as excellent reasons not to. But, perhaps, just perhaps, the Hornbecks’ heartfelt appeal to her on behalf of their son was much greater than the disapproving finger-waiving that she would no doubt receive from others.

As OTHERS, let us also take note that we tuned in to the Shawn Hornbeck interview. If we didn’t watch, we participated in discussions about Shawn before and after the interview. If we didn’t discuss Shawn, we sought out the latest on websites, blogs, and networks news. What do our choices in this matter say about us? Should we, too, be deemed insensitive and inappropriate? Should we be villified?

Oprah is not unfallible. And, unfortunately, neither are parents. We all make judgement calls on behalf of others that do not always meet with everyone else’s approval. We all make judgement calls that we later may regret. All each of us can do is our best.

Instead of spending time and energy criticizing and attacking, perhaps, just perhaps, we can find a way to meaningfully demonstrate our compassion for Shawn. For, in the midst of all this, he still suffers and feels imprisoned…

  16. Debbie Harig

I read all of the statements. If you are so aghast about either or these ladies and what they have to say—turn off your TV. Get over it. The only reason these shows can continue is that people are not able to pick up the remote and and push the power button.

  17. Sharon

I don’t blame Oprah for having Shawn on her show. That would be (almost) like blaming Michael Jackson for sleeping with little boys. It is the PARENTS responsibility. Opps. Did I use the “r” word? That’s no longer a part of our society.

  18. shirlene

I’m overwhelmed with emotion right now! I watched the interveiw and am convinced that the parents were trying to stop the media harrassment. I’m hesitant to mention Rosie and Ophrah in the same sentence. They’re not even on the same planet. Because of Ophrah’s fame, she will “never” escape criticism. The Bible even declares that we should be careful of the man (or woman) that “everyone” speaks well of. Ophrah they crucified Jesus, so you’re in good company.

  19. scott

Oprah is a douche bag that needs to be called on alot of her bullshit! And i’m not saying Rosie ISN’T a douche bag, because, of course she is. But, she sure isn’t a billionaire bitch who would rather open up a $40 million dollar school in Africa, and not in the US claiming that “inner city kids in America just don’t have the desire to learn”. What a cunt. Turn your back on your own people in your own country. Go back to Africa then and get the fuck off the airwaves, hoe!

  20. CAROLYN JOHNSON

WHY DO YOU ROSIE KEEP PUTTING YOUR FOOT IN YOUR MOUTH DAY AFTER DAY ON YOUE SHOW ALL YOU DO IS OPEN YOUR BIG MOUTH AND MAKE YOUR SELF AND THE SHOW LOOK STUPID HOW DO THE OTHER LADIES ON THE SHOW PUT UP WITH YOU THEY SHOULD HAVE KEEP STAR ON THE I THINK SHE WOULD PUT ROSIE IN HER PLACE MS WALTERS YOU NEED TO FIRE HER SHE IS MAKING ALL OF YOU LOOK BAD! BAD!

  21. Carly

Janet you sound sort of snottish to me. My guess is that you probably believe in eugenics as well. Trash [as you say] is not measured by the amount of money one makes, and just because Rosie is ‘opinionated’, that does not make her trash, she has every right to be opinionated.

As well, I really wouldn’t consider what you just said as exhibiting any sort of class, so look who is talking!

Carolyn, did you mean to post that?

  22. Sally

O.W. is too overrated. Maria is so off regarding the most powerful woman in this country – is she sick or what? Also, to compare the bigoted O.W. to Hillary Clinton is a disgrace. I can’t wait for the facts to come out regarding O.W. and her best friend Gayle! Re-read the spelling of GAYle! Any clues yet people. Oprah is gay and she is ashamed to admit it. She makes me sick w/ her selfl-rightous attitude and lies. I also believe she got pregnant at 14 because she was a hoe and she still is. She rakes in millions from all you dumb johns – male and female.
PS Marie – you are a complete idiot to compare swindeler to a civil servant. Tisk tisk on you:(

  23. Kevin S. Watson

Come on Ms. Walters, I know that the ratings are tough to hold onto but Rosie’s large frame needs to go. Oprah is a credible vehicle in TV that should not be acosted with backpage news cannon fodder. I really respect Barbara Walters. I will hold my breath to see what happens after this latest Oprah bashing sinks into Babs’upper crust hyde. Please eject Rosie and save the “View” from an Unreconciliatory dive into mediocrity. “Long live the Donald”.........

  24. Elizabeth

    Rosie taking on Oprah???

Low class trash, mean mouthed big mouth has the nerve to criticize Opera? What a joke. I no longer watch the view because of Big Mouth Rosie. Barbara Walters used to have class. Now I am wondering.

Rosie, sit down, shut the heck up and open your ears for a change.

  25. Cassie

Everyone has a right to their own opinions. The name calling and bashing each other doesn’t accomplish anything except show how immature we are.

  26. cujokay

Oprah won’t respond to Rosie’s comments. It’s the difference between class and crass.

Rosie is always looking for a fight, IMO. EVERYBODY can’t be wrong. She’s lobbed the first grenade by openly questioning Oprah’s sexuality (as if it’s any of her business). She picks fights for no apparent reason. I’m sure Rosie is not even on Oprah’s radar, I’m sure they don’t travel in the same circles.

I think she’s gone too far this time. Oprah has millions more fans than Rosie.

  27. Linda

If I have to read about one more of Rosie’s rants I think I will scream. She started as a no name, got a little bit of fame and is totally out of control. I never watch the View because I have better things to do with my time. However, when I can’t even get through the day without hearing one of Rosie’s idiotic comments ,it is a sad state for the media world. Barbara, get rid of Rosie so we can live without her over the top antics.

  28. BOB CRILLY

I don’t blame ROSIE one bit, she is just sticking up for the rest of the Homosexual community. Child molesters and MAN-BOY devieates are in the same group. But to pick on OPRAH is wrong. There is no defending the attitude that ROSIE has. Any time it is HOMO versus HETRO you can bet she will be like the MILK, HOMO.

  29. weezie

Ok, I have read all the comments on Rosie, and Oprah, I think they both are wrong, however Rosie seems to be on some kind of bashing rage, maybe she is not getting enought love from her partner, I don’t know, come on Rosie who’s next the Pope. I can tell you one thing for sure the owners of “The View” will not tolerate Rosie behavior much longer, money and ratings are at stake. Maybe she is trying to get fired?

  30. chip of the jungle

We think Rosie will stay on The View because Barbara Walters ensures there is enough quality slop in Rosie’s trough—-and Rosie-ola just loves it.

  31. Agnes Devine

Decent Americans are fed up with the filthy mouth of ODonnell. She doesn’t need to be viewed by anyone on national TV. She needs to just stay home and keep her dirty comments to herself.

  32. joy

The View is hunger for rating so they are trying to put fire everywhere. You have the right to your opinion, but don’t bash at people like little kids. Now, I don’t respect RD and BW anymore.

  33. Jackie

Although I agree with Rosie’s feelings much of the time, I find her to be an egocentric, fat,gay pig. Rosie must have everything her own way or she is history. Look at what she did with the McCall Magazine. Everything had to be her way or the highway. OPrah is very much like Rosie. Fat, opinionated bitch. She feels that she knows everything and often will not let guests speak, but interrupts them with her holier than thou opinions. But when one of her Hollywood friends is on, she allows them to talk without breaking in to give her stupid opinions. Oprah is not the female God. She is a rich black woman who got lucky. Yes, she works hard. Many people work hard. But most of us do not make the money she does and then give money away to make themselves look good. Please just remember that most of the money that she gives away is not her money. It is money from companies that she has strong-armed to give away products to make her look like a saint. Let’s face it, black or white, Oprah and Rosie are two fat assed bitches, rich, opinionated, know-it-alls who think they are better than the rest of us.

  34. Dawn

    People,

You are all expressing your opinions here, if you can call them that. Name calling, profanity, and homophobic remarks and all. This is our FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT. You have a RIGHT to your opinion. So does Ms. O’Donnell, even if you don’t agree with her. You don’t tell someone to SHUT UP when they express their opinion. Evolved people listen, disagree, and move on. By the way, it looks as if the majority of you expressing your VIEW here are undereducated and uninformed. Educated people don’t get their news from the Enquirer and Access Hollywood. It’s so easy to connect with people with cement for brains. Just click on websites such as this one. You guys are truly entertaining, and VERY SCARY. I hope you all don’t vote.

  35. Pharmacist

You have to blame the drug companies who tell doctors to dispense drug as if they were candy so that the drug company can make more money. WBR LeoP

  36. amazed

“after 4 years captive a new haircut couldn’t hide his tormented eyes”

Was this a comment about one of the plump princess’s mail order kids, because one could just imagine life as a small child being thrust into the backwards ass world that must be rosie’s home.

I think we need to address rosie as MR. Odonnell from now on because she seems to get off on swinging her transplanted balls. Possibly they were donated from her politically incorrect cock-smoking brother (he proally has never used them anyway).

lets just say, if Ro-O-Bung-Hole put half as much effort into being civilized as she did spouting split pea soup from that blockhead of hers these attacks on her LACK of Intelligece, mannors, obease body and rotting piece of animal dung tongue and lips that she MUST use to kiss the life partner of hers, no one would really give a shit about her.
